Iranian calender is a solar calender.A year is 365 days.It is divided into 12 months.Here are names of each month:

 

 

 

1. Farvardin (progress power)
2. Ardibehesht (best truth)
3. Khordad (health)
4. Tir (planet Mercury, arrow)
5. Amordad (immortality, long life)
6. Shahriver (strong kingdom)
7. Mehr (kindness, friendship)
8. Aban (water,rain)
9. Azer (fire)
10. Dei (day, creates)
11. Bahman (good mind)
12. Espand (abbreviation of Sepandarmazd and that means humility, love)

 

Each month has 30 days.In Iranian calendar each day also has a name.

 

1. Ormazd (abbreviation of Ahura Mazda, name of God in Zarathushthrian religion (2000 before Jesus) and it means a great and wise creator)
2. Bahman (good mind)
3. Ardibehesht (best truth)
4.Shahriver (strong kingdom)
5. Sepandarmazd (Humility)
6. Khordad (health)
7. Amordad (story life)
8. Dei be Azer (day, creates)
9. Azer (fire)

Three days of the month has the same name The ( day, creates).  To be able to make a distinction between those days, therefore we use the name to the next day. As ex: eighth is called "Dei" and ninth is called "Azar"  we call it this way: " Dei be Azar " that means " Dei day before Azar day.

The last five days of the year is called Pandje or Behizak.
These are the names of the five past few days in the year is etterkalt after the zarathushthiske holy book Avesta. It is the name of five important parts of the lucky book Avesta and they are :
